Lifespan names Stockman chief information security officer

PROVIDENCE – Lifespan, Rhode Island’s largest health system, has named Gaylon Stockman as the system’s new chief information security officer. In his role, Stockman will direct development, implementation and oversight of Lifespan’s information technology security infrastructure in compliance with industry best practices and local, state and federal regulations.

“We’re pleased to have Gaylon join our talented information technology team in this important role,” said Carole Cotter, Lifespan’s chief information officer and senior vice president. “As a health system, we handle extremely sensitive information so maintaining the highest standards of information security is essential and vital to what we do. Gaylon brings extensive experience in this area and will be an asset to our team.”

Prior to joining Lifespan, Stockman was the corporate information security officer at UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, Iowa, where he developed an enterprise-wide security framework for the organization’s more than 24,000 employees, 15 hospitals and 280 clinics. In addition, he was an adjunct professor at William Penn University where he focused on business leadership, programming, HIPAA (the federal law protecting patients’ health information) and information security.
