Local Wendy’s raise funds for Adoption RI

Wendy’s restaurants in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island have launched a program to support Adoption Rhode Island.
Running through May 31, while supplies last, the program allows customers at participating restaurants to get four free Jr. Frosty drinks and four free value-size Fry coupons for $1. Coupons remain valid through July 12 and Wendy’s donates the net proceeds of coupon book sales to the nonprofit.
The funds raised are intended to help the Adoption Rhode Island assist children in state care waiting for families.
“The level of dedication and compassion the Wendy’s family has for all children in foster care is inspirational.” said Darlene Allen, executive director of Adoption Rhode Island, an agency now celebrating over 30 years of adoption work. “As we reflect on the last few decades, Wendy’s is certainly among those leading organizations changing the face of foster care, both locally and nationally, and we are so proud to partner with them.”
Harvey Bennett, president of Wendy’s Providence co-op said Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, was adopted, so the cause holds special meaning for him.
“[He] believed that everyone has a responsibility to give something back and to help those in need,” Bennett said. “We are driven by Dave’s legacy and feel a responsibility to help ensure that every child finds a forever home and the love and support they need.”
Adoption Rhode Island is a private nonprofit dedicated to finding families for children in state care and providing support services for those children and families throughout the process.
Wendy’s has more than 6,600 restaurants worldwide.
