Local businesses help spruce up Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET – More than 80 volunteers from local businesses and the community recently turned out for the city’s “Pawtucket Proud Day” to clean public spaces and neighborhood parks.

The event, now in its 10th year, was hosted by the Pawtucket Land Trust in partnership with the Pawtucket Foundation. Volunteer teams were assigned to six main work sites throughout the city and competed for the Golden Bucket Award, which recognized the team with the most outstanding contributions. This year, Pawtucket Credit Union earned the award.

“Pawtucket Proud Day is about the business community showing its support for beautification of the city. We are pleased with the work the volunteers completed and think the day sets a great example of a productive public-private partnership,” said Aaron Hertzberg, executive director of Pawtucket Foundation.

The Pawtucket Land Trust works to preserve, conserve and appropriately use historic structures and open spaces in significant areas of Pawtucket.
