NEW BEDORD – ABC Disposal Service Inc. acquired the roll-off business of United Waste Management for southeastern Massachusetts, SouthCoastToday.com reported Sunday.
A sister company to ABC, New Bedford Waste Services LLC, also acquired two local transfer stations in Massachusetts from Boston-based United. The stations were the Rochester Environmental Park and Sandwich Resource Recovery.
“Combining the capabilities of these transfer stations with our current 1,500-ton-per-day limit allows New Bedford Waste Services to manage as many as 3,015 tons of materials each day,” said Vice President and General Manager Michael Camara to SouthCoastToday.com. “These two facilities improve our ability to market a larger percentage of materials which can then be recycled and reused. We understand the global implications of waste processing and our responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.”
ABC, a family-owned solid waste and recycling company in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, now has operating facilities in New Bedford, Bellingham, Rochester, Sandwich and Tisbury, Martha’s Vineyard.
A call requesting the financial details of the transaction by Providence Business News was not immediately returned.
