Lynn Traupman, managing partner at LongHorn Steakhouse in Warwick recently received the company’s Best of the West Award, which recognizes managing partners who gain top financial results, show leadership skills, develop managers and team members, and continuously satisfy LongHorn guests.
Traupman, a Cranston resident, has had an extensive career in retail and hospitality. She previously served as general manager at Marshalls Department Store for 11 years before gaining restaurant experience at Hemenway’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar, where she worked for nearly a decade before becoming a managing partner at LongHorn Steakhouse.
Traupman’s restaurant also participates in the Darden Harvest program, a community-outreach effort organized by LongHorn’s parent company, Darden Restaurants. Through this program, employees gather unused, fresh food from the restaurants and donate it weekly to local community food banks.

PBN: What do you think is the most critical skill to succeeding in your role?
TRAUPMAN: I believe people, communication and motivational skills are all critical to the success of a LongHorn Steakhouse managing partner. I come to work every day passionate and enthusiastic about my team, guests and our restaurant. This is how I set the tone.

PBN: How has the LongHorn workplace helped you succeed professionally and/or personally?
TRAUPMAN: Many of my personal ethics line up with LongHorn Steakhouse’s core values, such as treating everyone with dignity, respect, honesty, integrity, embodying a “guest-first” mentality, and being good business citizens by positively impacting our community through fundraising events, volunteering and food donations.

PBN: Is food a personal passion for you?
TRAUPMAN: I have a passion for food and love to cook at home. I enjoy entertaining my family and friends with delicious food and a great conversation. It’s no wonder I chose the hospitality industry as my career choice. Working at LongHorn is like entertaining in my own home. I, along with my entire team, truly enjoy warmly welcoming our guests with a big smile, providing a comfortable atmosphere, ensuring drinks are always full and that food is expertly grilled. •
