PROVIDENCE – Two of Providence’s fastest growing technology companies are teaming up. Teespring, a crowdfunding platform for custom apparel, has partnered with local software development agency MojoTech to spearhead major upgrades to its platform and help Teespring meet rapidly growing sales volume.
Founded by two Brown University students in 2011, Teespring allows its users to create and sell merchandise online without any upfront costs or risks. The company now employs about 70 people at offices in Providence and San Francisco, and thousands of campaigns are launched daily through Teespring’s Web-based platform, according to TechCrunch.
Currently, Teespring’s crowdfunding platform only allows customized T-shirts, hoodies and other simple apparel, but co-founder and CEO Walker Williams has said that within the next year and a half, Teespring will make additional customizable products available to clients and entrepreneurs who use the website.
“They have grown rapidly over the past couple years, and it’s exciting to get our team involved now to help scale their platform to a level that will accommodate their growing customer base and provide some enhancements,” said Nick Kishfy, founder and CEO of MojoTech. “The fact that we are working together on this project while their customers continue to create new campaigns translates into a dynamic challenge – but for us, that just adds to the excitement.”
Unlike most of the projects MojoTech takes on, Teespring’s platform is already live and operational, meaning it will not have a typical “launch” at completion. The partnership between the two companies is expected to last several months and involve back-end updates and enhancements to the Teespring user interface.
“We’re excited to work with MojoTech, not only because we’re partners in the community, but also because of their strong reputation for delivering great products, and their ability to seamlessly integrate into an existing project,” said Walker Williams, co-founder and CEO of Teespring. “We set lofty goals for ourselves, and we’re confident that with MojoTech’s help, we can not only accomplish those goals, but continue to raise the bar. It’s exciting to think about where this will take us.”
