Lucy’s Hearth breaks ground

MIDDLETOWN – Lucy’s Hearth, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and human services to homeless women and children, recently celebrated a groundbreaking of a new $4.4 million facility, according to a news release.
As part of the project, Northeast Collaborative Architects will redesign the interior and grounds of the former Child and Family Services headquarters, at 19 Valley Road, as well as design the new facility.
The new location for Lucy’s Hearth will include a 9,300-square-foot building on 2.2 acres. The facility will provide a 60 percent increase in capacity. The facility will include 14 one-bedroom units with private bathrooms, two, two-bedroom suites for large families with private bathrooms, a new kitchen, food and clothing pantries, an age-specific play room, as well as space for teens and families, and laundry facilities on two floors.
