MBTA, Keolis reach agreement to improve service

BOSTON – The board that began overseeing the MBTA has signed off on an arrangement that the transit authority reached with Keolis Commuter Services to improve performance, the Boston Business Journal reported.
A news release from the MBTA also said the agreement includes a plan to “enhance fair collection,” as well as more training for commuter rail staff, better maintenance planning and a commitment to have 65 trains available for weekday service, the Journal said.
It reported that the agreement reflects work by a group that looked at problems during this past winter’s storms.

“We can, and will, do better,” MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack said in a statement. “I’m pleased that Keolis has agreed in writing to work harder to achieve our shared goal of providing the level of service commuter rail customers expect and deserve.”
Keolis cancelled numerous trains during the winter’s storms, the newspaper reported.
