MBTA trains on Providence line delayed after person struck in Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Mass. – There are delays on the Providence/Stoughton line after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an MBTA commuter rail train in Mansfield Thursday morning.
The MBTA is posting updates on Twitter about the delays.
An Amtrak spokeswoman said all trains now are moving on the line, but with delays. They were temporarily halted.
Providence train 807, which was being held at South Station in Boston because of the police activity, departed around 1 p.m., but is running 90 minutes behind schedule, one Tweet said.
Through Twitter, the MBTA said buses were available to transport people who were on the stopped Providence 805/816 trains.
The 818 Providence train from Wickford Junction at 1:10 p.m. also was delayed over an hour due to police activity in Mansfield, the MBTA tweeted.
The incident happened at 10:44 a.m., south of Route 128 in Mansfield, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said. She said the train was traveling from Washington, D.C. to Boston and carrying 189 passengers.
