Make-A-Wish event raises $249K

WARWICK – The Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Evening of Wishes in Warwick on Oct. 19 raised a total of $249,000 to grant the wishes of seriously ill children in Rhode Island.
Textron President and CEO Scott Donnelly and Bill Leohning, executive vice president of Fidelity Investments, both of Barrington, participated.
Donnelly co-chaired the event with his wife, Deanna, and Leohning was a wish sponsor.
The event was attended by representatives from businesses throughout Rhode Island and other parts of New England, including Rhode Island-based Arlen, Gilbane Building, Keel Vodka, WPRI-TV Channel 12, Amica, Providence College’s basketball coach and team members, along with Euro-Pro, MassMutual, Swarovski, Cross, United Healthcare and The Salem Foundation, among others.
“This year’s Evening of Wishes was a great event for a great cause,” said Donnelly. “The annual fundraiser benefits children with life-threatening illnesses. These wishes create a bright spot and good memories in what is a very difficult period in their lives. The attendees, including a very strong showing from Rhode Island, were very generous, which is greatly appreciated by these terrific kids and their families.”
