Make-Wish raises $220K at Evening of Wishes

The Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island nonprofit raised more than $220,000 at a recent Evening of Wishes fundraiser to support children with serious illnesses in Rhode Island.
The organization grants wishes for children between the ages of 2½ and 18 years of age with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience. While it serves both states, funds from this event will help children in Rhode Island.
The event, held in early November at the Omni Providence Hotel, was emceed by WPRI-TV’s Michelle Muscatello and featured speeches and performances by local “Wish” children. More than 250 guests heard from wish recipient and Rhode Island native Tessa Tomassini, 26, who spoke about the lifelong impact of her wish for a bedroom makeover, and how she is now paying it forward as a Wish volunteer. Likewise, Wish mother Tina Powers also shared stories from her daughter Alexandra’s wish to go on a Caribbean cruise.
Isabella Corcelli, who received her wish to dance with Tony Dovolani from Dancing with the Stars, later performed a dance routine, accompanied by Dancing Feeling Studio co-owner Randy Deats.
The 2014 Evening of Wishes was co-chaired by Bill and Doris Loehning of Barrington who were also the event’s presenting sponsors. Additional sponsors included Euro-Pro, Embrace Home Loans, and Textron, among others.
