Making their mark on links

Ken Block, software-engineering entrepreneur, former Rhode Island Republican gubernatorial candidate and government-reformer gadfly, has launched a new company developing a unique, high-quality line of golfing products.

KenRick Golf in April introduced its first product, a stylish line of leather golf belts that include in the belt tip a divot tool and a handy metal golf ball marker. The belts are initially being sold online and marketed to corporations, charity golf events and pro shops.

“We are solving three problems for golfers: cutting their pockets and themselves with … gimmicky divot tools; repeatedly hunting for divot tools in their golf bags and using coins, if handy, or even leaves to mark a golf ball’s position,” Block said at KenRick’s Warwick headquarters.”

Rick Schad, KenRick co-founder, designed the belt.

“A good golfer needs a divot tool to repair the green on almost every hole,” he said. •
