Marc Kalapos, director of medical/surgical nursing at Newport Hospital, has been named the Rhode Island State Nurse Association Nurse Leader of the Year. Kalapos joined the hospital in 1996 as a certified nursing assistant before moving to his current position in 2009. He holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Salve Regina University, and a master’s degree in health care administration. •
