Maritime innovation conference to be held at UMass CIE

FALL RIVER – A maritime innovation conference will be held Nov. 30 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
“The focus of this year’s conference will be on the challenges and opportunities of doing business in the Arctic and it will bring together leading edge marine technology companies, scientists and policy makers to offer their perspective on current trends in the industry, and showcase several exciting start-up technologies,” CIE Director Tobias Stapleton said in a statement. “This is all part of our mission to connect the university with industry, academic partners and other key stakeholders to grow the region’s innovation economy.”
Panel discussions, networking, elevator pitches and workshops on topics including arctic-related economic and environmental issues, cross-border business with Canada, offshore wind energy, and more will be discussed.
Stephen McNeil, the premier of Nova Scotia, and Jim Hanlon, the CEO of the Institute for Ocean Enterprise in Halifax, Nova Scotia, will be on hand to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the UMass Dartmouth CIE and the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship in Nova Scotia.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., 151 Martine St.
