Mass. biotech firms look to prepare vets for openings to come

BOSTON – A group of human resource executives from five Massachusetts biotechnology companies gathered Tuesday to brainstorm how to better prepare military veterans for jobs in the sector, according to the Boston Business Journal.
Biogen Idec, Covidien, Fresenius Medical Care, Pfizer and Vertex Pharmaceuticals all participated in the session, which also included government agencies, educational institutions and industry groups to test ideas that would help veterans coming to the civilian labor force fill the needs of the industry in positions across the spectrum, including operations, human resources and finance.
The program is expected to be piloted starting in June through workshops with 20 to 25 veterans, with larger programs to follow.
