ARLINGTON, Mass. – Two Rhode Island security firms under the same ownership have been bought by a Massachusetts company for an undisclosed price.

Phoenix Fire Alarm & Communication and Electronic Alarm Systems, located in Warwick, were purchased by American Alarm & Communications, a news release announced Thursday.

Phoenix and EAS will continue to operate as usual at their current location and will not change names, according to the release. No layoffs of their approximately 30-person staff are planned, a spokesman said.

American has about 150 people at its offices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Phoenix and EAS were co-owned by Thomas Mitchell, who will retire in six months, and Henry Guzeika Jr., who will stay on as full-time general manager.

“We are looking forward to beginning this new chapter in the life of our companies,” said Guzeika. “By combining the strengths of these companies into a unified team, we will be able to better serve our customers.”

There is a similarly-named company, American Alarms, in Cranston, that is not related to the Massachusetts company.
