Massachusetts launches new tax filing system for businesses

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Department of Revenue launched its new tax filing system, Mass TaxConnect, for businesses on Nov. 30 in an effort to make filing taxes simpler, quicker and more efficient.
The new system replaced WebFile for Business. Individual income taxpayers will have access to MassTaxConnect by 2017, according to information from the DOR.
The state agency said users will be able to us their existing WebFile for Business username and password to log into MassTaxConnect. Account information and third-party delegations transferred over to MassTaxConnect as of Nov. 30, according to the website.
“This important leap forward is not just about better, faster, more reliable technology,” Massachusetts Department of Revenue Commissioner Mark Nunnelly told The Boston Globe. “It’s about providing taxpayers with secure, easily navigable, self-directed access to their tax information whenever they need it.”
The website lists some of the new system’s features, such as automatic notification when information is missing or incorrect; ability to access information 24 hours a day, seven days a week; automatic calculations; free filing; and the ability to file early.
