PROVIDENCE – Maternova Inc., a startup founded by Meg Wirth to help maternal health products get into the developing world more quickly and easily, won the grand prize in the LivePlan $10,000 Boost nationwide business plan competition.

“Winning this competition is a boost for our venture, but it is also a win for the startup community in our home state of Rhode Island,” Allyson Cote, Maternova’s vice president for business development, said in a statement.

“The fact that a woman-owned, women-run social enterprise was recognized by such an esteemed panel of judges further validates our passion for our maverick mission,” said Cote.

The competition, hosted by Palo Alto Software Inc., received almost 200 entries and was judged by startup and venture experts Guy Kawasaki, Tim Berry, Diane Fraiman, Kristen Koh Goldstein and John Jantsch.
