WARWICK – The Smaller Business Association of New England will be holding its networking breakfast on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Providence-Warwick, Warwick.
The featured speaker is R.I. House Majority Leader Nicholas A. Mattiello, D-Cranston, who opposes the tax increase for those individuals who make more than $250,000. House Speaker Gordon D. Fox, D-Providence, and Mattiello were champions of the income tax reform which was enacted in 2010 that lowered the highest state income tax rate from 9.9 to 5.99 percent and reduced the number of tax brackets from five to three, which just went into effect in the 2011 tax year for the first time.
The event begins with registration at 7 a.m., breakfast at 7:30 a.m., and the featured speaker at 9 a.m.
Rep. Mattiello was elected as Majority Leader, the second-ranking position in the House, by his Democratic peers in February 2010 and won re-election as Majority Leader this year. Leader Mattiello is currently in his fifth year as a House member, representing District 15 in Cranston.
Mattiello was formerly a member of the House Finance Committee and has served on the Special House Pension Study Commission, which made recommendations that resulted in significant pension reform adopted by the General Assembly.
