Mechanics Cooperative Bank has named two students recipients of its 2012 scholarships.

Nicole R. Ledoux, a recent graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, received $1,500 and John A. O’Neil, who recently graduated from Fall River’s Durfee High School, received $1,000.

While in high school, both students excelled in academics, becoming members of the National Honors Society, taking a variety of advanced courses and participating in school and community organizations.

Ledoux served as captain of her school’s robotics team and was a library docent all four years. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and assisted with prom-dress drives.

In the fall, she’ll attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she’ll major in computer science.

O’Neil, who played varsity baseball and served as captain of the varsity golf and basketball teams, was also senior class president. He’ll attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall, where he will major in business.

Bank President and CEO Joseph T. Baptista said he’s proud of both students and wishes them success in college. •
