TAUNTON – Mechanics Cooperative Bank and their employees have contributed $8,000 to the Taunton YMCA for its annual fund-raising campaign.
In addition to a $5,000 corporate donation, Mechanics Cooperative Bank Senior Vice President and Taunton YMCA board member Nancy Stokes created and organized an internal bank fundraising campaign that contributed $3,000. These extra funds were raised through employee dress down days, bake sales and customer contributions.
“We not only support these amazing community organizations through charitable corporate donations but our employees also contribute personally,” said Stokes. “That is the true value of a community bank.”
The donations help make the YMCA more affordable and accessible to local residents who would like to improve their health and overall lifestyle. The money provides direct assistance to thousands of children and families through YMCA memberships, child care, camp programs, recreation programs, teen programs, and special needs programs.
“Whether it’s putting a mentor in a child’s life, giving teens a healthy outlet afterschool or affordable recreation for families, the YMCA is an essential part of the Taunton community,” said Stephanie Mancini, the YMCA’s executive director. “These programs would not be possible without the support and dedication from community based organizations like Mechanics Cooperative Bank.”
Across the country, 2,687 Y’s engage 21 million men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – in improving the nation’s health and well-being and providing opportunities to give back and support neighbors.
Established in 1877, Mechanics Cooperative Bank is Massachusetts’ second-oldest co-operative bank with eight branches and assets totaling $450 million.
