Mechanics Cooperative Bank donated $2,500 to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s fuel-assistance program to help 25 local families in Taunton and Dighton.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has provided fuel and food assistance for several years. Families are chosen based off of need, not religious distinction. The philanthropic program is a part of the National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
“At a time when so many local families and nonprofit organizations are struggling for funding, Mechanics Cooperative Bank has increased our annual charitable-giving budget to directly support these deficits,” Joseph T. Baptista Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, said in a release.
The monetary gift coincides with Mechanical Cooperative Bank’s 10 percent Net Income Pledge, where the bank donates this portion of their net income to local nonprofit organizations or families in need. •
