Mechanics donates to PRIDE

Mechanics Cooperative Bank last week donated a $5,000 charitable gift to a local group in Taunton, which will support an Adult Day Habilitation Program.
The bank, established in 1877 with $450 million in assets, contributed the gift to PRIDE Inc., a nonprofit serving hundreds of individuals in Taunton and the surrounding communities.
PRIDE works with individuals with disabilities and provides “vocational, social and alternate residential programs for individuals of all abilities,” according to its website.
“We are proud to support PRIDE Inc. and their mission statement, aimed at improving the quality of life in our community, is exactly where we, at Mechanics Cooperative Bank, are focusing our charitable contributions – by continuing to provide local support to great organizations like PRIDE Inc.,” said Joseph T. Baptista Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, in a statement.
PRIDE’s Adult Day Habilitation Program helps people “improve independence through a variety of activities, both on-site and in our community,” according to a press release.
The program aims efforts toward engaging participants in everyday living, self-care, self-development, among other activates.
“Mechanics Cooperative Bank’s support has allowed us to expand the Day Habilitation Program and increase the opportunities for learning and development for our members,” said Joanne Storres, PRIDE executive director, in a statement. “We are helping people, and improving lives every single day, and the support of organizations like Mechanics Cooperative Bank is integral to our success.”
