Why did you select your profession?

I don’t think I selected my profession; rather, I morphed into it … each position I’ve held has supported the next. Fifteen years ago, I couldn’t have predicted where it all was going or where I would be today.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

I will continue my formal education by working toward a master’s degree. Because I have been blessed with a handful of amazing women as mentors over the past 20 years, I intend to focus on “paying it forward” to other young professionals.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Keep asking questions; and, pay attention to those that take the time to answer. … They are the people that will teach you the most.

How do you keep a work-life balance?

As a single mother with four daughters and a full-time job, balancing work life and home life is a necessity. … I would often experience what I call “mommy guilt.” … I have learned to let “mommy guilt” go – at least when it relates to my professional life. •
