WESTPORT, Conn. – The MetLife Mature Market Institute has launched a new section on its website designed to provide free resources to help consumers navigate through personal finance, retirement, aging and caregiving decisions.
“We have gathered a wealth of information related to aging, retirement and caregiving over the past 15 years, and are pleased that we can now share this knowledge in a readily-accessible and easy-to-understand way,” said Sandra Timmermann, director of the institute. “Planning for financial security and retirement, and determining how best to care for an aging relative can appear overwhelming. These free resources, however, can help simplify the process and make the planning manageable.”

Guides and Tools provide up-to-date resources and strategies for those who need care or those caring for others. Guides include navigating the health care system, coping with a disability and alzheimer's disease: caregiving challenges. Tools include an adult day services evaluation form, assisted living cost calculator, financial/legal documents inventory and important information for caregivers.
The Essentials offer answers to common questions on a number of topics from health care to housing. Through The Essentials, consumers can find information on issues such as preventing elder abuse, social security, legal matters and falls and fall prevention. Additional resources for consumers are also included in many publications.
Helpful Hints give step-by-step suggestions for individuals to consider on topics such as caregiving and financial planning. Topics including ten tips for talking to your aging parents, advocating for a family member, caregiving from a distance, choosing an assisted living facility and choosing adult day services.
