PROVIDENCE – R.I. Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis issued a release last week reminding business owners that Monday, March 31, is the deadline for all for-profit corporations to file 2014 annual reports.

Corporations that submit the annual report after the 4:30 p.m. deadline on March 31 will be assessed a $25 late filing penalty fee, and failure to file an annual report can result in fines and the revocation of a company’s certificate of incorporation or certificate of authority.

Business owners may file the 2014 annual report via mail or in person at the R.I. Division of Business Services, located at 148 West River St. in Providence. Companies also can file online through the secretary of state’s website at http://www.sos.ri.gov.

“On-line filing gives companies a few extra hours to meet the deadline, since the service is available 24/7, and companies have until midnight, March 31, to submit their annual reports,” said Mollis.
