Why did you select your profession?

In the era of “L.A. Law,” who didn’t want to be a lawyer? … [Plus] I thought that behind every good politician is a smart person who knows the law; I wanted to be that person.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

I believe I have found what I love. … I hope to have the opportunity to expand my role as new challenges present themselves.

Don’t let the highs get you too high or the lows get you too low. Stay focused on the goal.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Go to Washington and work for a member of Congress.

What is your favorite escape or hobby?

In the summer, my husband and I spend a lot of time out on Narragansett Bay in our boat.

How do you keep a work-life balance?

When I feel myself getting too serious or stressed, I make time for a massage, turn off the BlackBerry and leave the laptop at the office.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?

I am a firm believer that facing challenges and making a few mistakes along the way is the key to professional development. •
