NEIT adds cyber security program

EAST GREENWICH – The New England Institute of Technology announced it added a cyber security technology program to its Bachelor of Science degree in IT on Dec. 19.

Students will be able to choose between software engineering technology, network engineering technology and cyber security technology.

The cyber security curriculum will include topics such as computer systems, mobile and network forensics, windows and linux security and incident response, among others. Both theory and hands-on practice will be incorporated into the classes; students will be able to choose between a senior project and an internship in their final two quarters.

The students will be prepared for positions such as systems operations and maintenance professional; network security specialist; digital forensics and incident response specialist and vulnerability analyst, NEIT said.

Earlier, on Dec. 13, NEIT said the college is offering a tuition freeze to all students who enroll by Dec 31. They must enroll in a degree program of at least two academic years and those who remain continuously enrolled will have their tuition fixed for their entire course of study, it said.
