NEIT earns veterinary technology accreditation

EAST GREENWICH – The New England Institute of Technology has received provisional accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association for its Associate in Science degree program in veterinary technology.
The institute is the only college in the state offering an accredited veterinary technology program, said Douglas H. Sherman, NEIT’s senior vice president and provost.
The association is headquartered in Schaumburg, Ill.
NEIT was one of 10 new programs granted accreditation, bringing the total accredited programs nationwide to 218. This accreditation will remain in effect until the next site visit scheduled for 2018.
According to Sherman, “Earning and maintaining our AVMA accreditation status is important to the students, to the faculty and to the college.”
NEIT is a private, nonprofit technical college with an enrollment of more than 3,000 students. •
