EAST GREENWICH – The New England Institute of Technology is now offering a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering technology, the school announced Thursday.

The program is designed to meet regional employer needs that are in line with an area push to develop a workforce that fits available jobs.

“We developed this new degree program in response to the needs of many employers who seek our graduates,” said Thomas F. Wylie, senior vice president and provost.

“By meshing many of our courses offered in our electronic and electrical curriculums into one program, our students now have the opportunity to master the high-tech skills needed in today’s competitive workplace,” said Wylie.

The program will best fit students who already have earned an associate degree in related fields, the school said, and will allow graduates to pursue careers under the direction of an engineering staff but above that of a traditional electrical worker.

Graduates will be qualified, the school said, for positions in product development, operations, or technical service.

Curriculum will focus on hands-on, practical learning in the areas of electronics and electrical theory, industrial controls, mathematics, and physics.

New England Institute of Technology offers 35 associate, bachelor and master degree programs to more than 3,000 enrolled students.
