Roughly 10 states have already implemented newborn screening for SCID with likely another four more to follow this year. With this in mind, IDF is pleased to announce the availability of a new educational handout for parents who learn that their child has been diagnosed with SCID. We are hopeful that states will utilize this information as part of their follow up materials for parents. This resource is available to any states or individuals who wish to use it as we hope it will dispel any misconceptions about this condition and provide insight about next steps and the need for early treatment. This resource is in addition to the brochure developed by IDF last year which helps parents who learn that their child has had an abnormal test result from the TREC test.
