National accounting group names top 10 accountants in R.I.

PROVIDENCE – The National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals has named its 2014 “Top 10 Public Accounting Professionals” for Rhode Island.
“We are very pleased to recognize this distinguished group of public accounting professionals, whose commitment to the profession and mastery of their craft have earned them this significant and prestigious honor,” Paul Witte, NAPAP’S executive director, said in a statement.
A primary charter of the National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals is to recognize and distinguish the Top 10 public accounting professionals in each state.
The award winners include:

  • Laura DaLomba of Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co. Ltd.
  • Jerrold Dorfman of LGC&D LLP
  • David Fontaine of Marcum LLP
  • David Gobeille of Sansiveri Kimball & Co. LLP
  • Paul O’Brien of BlumShapiro
  • Michael Orefice Jr. of Orefice & Caliri CPA
  • Daniel Rubiano of Rubiano & Co.
  • Salvatore Santilli of Yarlas, Kaplan, Santilli, Moran Ltd.
  • Leah Szlatenyi of DiSanto Priest & Co.
  • Patricia Thompson of Piccerelli Gilstein & Company LLP

Accountants who make the Top 10 list demonstrate knowledge, skill, experience and success in their field, according to the association. To achieve this award, accountants must first be nominated by industry peers or satisfied clients. Nominees are reviewed by the NAPAP research committee, which evaluates each nominee’s credentials against the award criteria, and compiles a list of finalists from which the NAPAP board of governors selects the Top 10. Selection criteria include education, years of experience, areas of expertise, certifications, publications, awards, leadership and client satisfaction.
Nominations for the 2015 “Top 10 Public Accounting Professionals” awards in each state will be accepted beginning Jan. 1. For details, visit www.napapweb.org.
