In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, National Grid has contributed a combined $40,000 to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly and the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale to assist residents in need in Southern Rhode Island communities.
“Hurricane Sandy devastated several areas of Westerly and Charlestown, literally washing away people’s homes and businesses,” said Liz Pasqualini, executive director of the Jonnycake Center of Westerly. “National Grid’s generous grant will greatly aid our efforts to help local residents get back on their feet. We deeply appreciate their support during this difficult time.”
The center’s Westerly location received $25,000 and the Peace Dale location received $15,000.
“At National Grid, we recognize that restoring power is just the first step in helping the many South County residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy,” said Timothy F. Horan, president of National Grid in Rhode Island. “That’s why we are proud to make these donations to the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale and the Jonnycake Center of Westerly to assist their efforts to serve area residents.”
