PROVIDENCE – Power restoration is underway after a storm Wednesday night knocked out power to 9,800 customers, according to National Grid.
National Grid spokesman David D. Graves said outages peaked at about 9:30 and 10 p.m., and by midnight, 1,900 customers still were without electricity.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, approximately 300 customers in Bristol, Kent and Providence counties were without power, but were expected to be restored by 2 p.m.
The communities of Barrington and Coventry had the most customers without electricity, according to the National Grid website.
“As the wind continues to blow we will likely continue to see scattered outages, even as we restore customers. The primary cause of outages is the high wind bringing down limbs and trees,” Graves said in an email.
