SMITHFIELD – More than 175 students in 8th grade at Vincent J. Gallagher Middle School participated in the 9th annual CU4 Reality Financial Education Fair on May 15, according to Navigant Credit Union, sponsor of the fair, which is the culminating event of an ongoing school-year financial literacy program.
The Gallagher Middle School program is one of more than 30 financial literacy programs in Rhode Island,
said Laurie Robinson, who coordinates the CU4 Reality Program in the state and collaborates with General Treasurer Gina Raimondo on the financial literacy initiatives in Ocean State schools.
Navigant Credit Union also sponsored a financial education fair at Martin Middle School on May 14, said Robinson. In addition, Pawtucket Credit Union sponsors a Real World financial literacy program, she said.
Wave Federal Credit Union sponsors a financial literacy program at Toll Gate High School and
Community and Teachers Federal Credit Union sponsors a program at East Providence High School, while Westerly Community Credit Union also sponsors Everfi and CU4 Reality programs in area schools, said Robinson.
