New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center to host Seafood Throwdown

NEW BEDFORD – The New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center is hosting a Seafood Throwdown in partnership with the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance, Mass in Motion New Bedford and the New Bedford Farmers Market on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Local chefs Henry Bousquet and Chris Cronin will perform a cook-off to see who will create the best dish using a surprise, locally caught seafood ingredient as well as local produce.

Judging the event will be Heather Atwood, author of “In Cod We Trust,” Maria Lawton, author of “Azorean Cooking: From My Family’s Table to Yours,” and Andy Tomolonis, author of “Organic Hobby Farming: A Practical Guide to Earth-Friendly Farming in Any Space.”

The event, which will begin at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public, will take place in Custom House Square on Barkers Lane in New Bedford.
