New England Institute of Technology hosting 2015 WordCamp R.I.

EAST GREENWICH – New England Institute of Technology will host the WordPress WordCamp R.I. workshop Sept. 25 and 26.

WordPress is a blogging platform that originated in 2003 and has since grown into the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used by millions of websites globally, according to NEIT.
WordCamp R.I. will feature speakers to assist individuals with the WordPress program and experts to discuss best practices for a WordPress site for attendees who are new to website development and blogging. The workshop also will be geared toward experienced app developers.
Admission includes entrance for both days of the conference, lunch and refreshments, a WordCamp T-shirt, reception and one-on-one consultations at the Happiness Bar, also known as the “help desk.” Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops to receive assistance with their WordPress sites.
On Sept. 25 there will be three seminars: “WordPress Setup and Installation,” “Getting To Know Sass to Become a Stronger, More Efficient Front End Developer” and “How You Can Contribute to the WordPress Core Functions.” Friday’s program will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
Seminars on Sept. 26 will cover topics such as adapting a WordPress site to various needs by coding, making a website mesh with business needs, and breaking down components of WordPress and how to use them. Saturday’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m.
Co-organizer of WordCamp R.I. and president of the Linchpin Agency, Aaron Ware said in a statement, “It’s hard to paint the value attendees get out of WordCamp R.I. There are amazing speakers, the Happiness Bar help desk staffed with knowledgeable volunteers and opportunities to network. This year’s location, New England Tech in East Greenwich, is central, just a 20-minute or less drive for most Rhode Islanders. It’s right off the highway with ample free parking.”
Douglas H. Sherman, senior vice president and provost at NEIT stated, “Since WordPress is an integral part of the college’s associate in science and bachelor of science degree programs in graphics, multimedia and web design, we are very pleased to host WordCamp R.I. Knowing that WordCamp workshops are held internationally, our college community is proud to be associated with this outstanding organization.”
Tickets are $20; the event is free for students.
