New England home care agencies named HomeCare Elite winners

CRANSTON – ABILITY Network, a leading health care information technology company based in Minneapolis, has issued its annual HomeCare Elite report, a compilation of the nation’s most successful home care providers – those in the top 25 percent of all of the nation’s home care organizations. Its 2016 report, the agency’s 11th such annual report, indicates that Life Care at Home of Rhode Island, based in Cranston, has been named one of the top 500 agencies in the country as well as being named a HomeCare Elite winner this year, as it has three times in the past.

“Improving quality of care and the patient experience continue to underpin a rapidly evolving health care environment,” Christine Lang, senior director, product management, for ABILITY Network, said in a statement. “At the same time, tracking, measuring and interpreting data that support these efforts is becoming more complex. The 2016 HomeCare Elite winners have demonstrated the highest-quality care in their communities, which is a remarkable achievement.”

Of the 9,406 agencies considered for recognition, 2,353 were recognized on the 2016 HomeCare Elite winners list, which included other home care agencies in Rhode Island: Independence Health Services in Providence, VNA of Rhode Island in Warwick (one of the top 500 agencies four times in the past) and Dependable Healthcare Services LLC in Wyoming. Of these health care entities, only Dependable Healthcare Services received this award for the first time; other facilities have been named an Elite winner one or more times in past years.

In nearby Massachusetts, the Community Visiting Nurse Agency LLC in Attleboro (one of the top 500 agencies once in the past), Care Resource in Dartmouth, Overlook Care at Home in New Bedford; Personal Touch Homecare Services in North Dartmouth (one of the top 500 agencies once in the past) and Stoughton Public Health Association in Stoughton (one of the top 500 agencies once in the past) were named to the 2016 HomeCare Elite winners list. Of these entities, Care Resource and Overlook Care at Home are 2016 Elite winners for the first time.

The ranking is sponsored by DecisionHealth, a publisher of several home health-related resources.

Life Care at Home of Rhode Island is part of LHC Group, a national provider of post-acute care services with 11,000 employees operating more than 350 locations across 25 states, the for-profit company reported.
