PROVIDENCE – Six teams of youths will pitch their social venture ideas to a panel of judges on Dec. 14.
The first-ever “Young Social Innovators” pitch contest is a collaboration of Social Venture Partners Rhode Island and Ashoka’s Youth Venture.
Youths up to age 19 from six Rhode Island schools and after-school programs in Providence, Pawtucket, Newport and Woonsocket will participate.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Met High School’s new Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at 325 Public St. in Providence.
“Anyone who is interested in supporting the hard work of the youth in our social entrepreneurship program” is invited, a news release said.
Also on the agenda for the event is a youth business expo, entertainment by young performers, and elevator pitches by previously-launched venture teams from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
