IT’S TIME FOR THE MO TO GO! Team Newport Muzzy will be wrapping up their month of fundraising for “Movember” with an Aprés Muzzy celebration. Join the team for awesome raffle prizes donated by local businesses and ‘stache shave-offs (professional barber included). A band will be cranking tunes and ski attire is encouraged. Dust off your favorite one-piece or classic ski outfit and join in for the best aprés party Newport has ever seen!
With 23 team members, Newport Muzzy has donated their faces with a commitment to the growth of moustaches for the entire month of “Movember” to raise awareness about cancers that affect men. Kyle Reichman is leading the team for the third year of “Movember” in Newport in honor of his father, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007. Last year Newport Muzzy raised just over $10,000, doubling the amount from 2010.
A $20 donation at the door includes Newport Storm beer and wine from 8pm – 10pm and entrance into the VIM (Very Important Muzzy) section. All proceeds benefit LIVESTRONG and Prostate Cancer Foundation.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
The money raised will help make a tangible difference to the lives of others, through the world's most promising prostate cancer research and LIVESTRONG's programs that support young adults and their families battling and surviving cancer.
