Newport Visitors Center showcases Heydt’s work

NEWPORT – The Newport Visitors Center has opened “Newportant People & Places – Our Wintertime,” a new exhibit by Newport-based artist William Heydt featuring watercolor paintings of Newport scenes and celebrated personalities.
Heydt has been working to capture, according to a release, “ordinary moments in extraordinary fashion for nearly 40 years.”
He holds a bachelor’s of fine arts and a master’s of fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.
“For me, Newport is an exciting, vibrant, and historic city that just happens to be blessed to be situated along one of the most beautiful coastlines in America,” Heydt said in a statement. “But what sets Newport apart from other popular destinations is the people that live here. Everyone here is like family.”
The exhibit will be on display through early spring during the visitor center’s hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during the winter season.
