Newport receives top credential? for third time

NEWPORT – For the third successive time, Newport Hospital has attained the Distinguished Magnet hospital designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program.

A standard for nursing excellence, the voluntary hospital credentialing program recognizes nursing excellence and professionalism. The unanimous decision to re-designate Newport Hospital was based on the hospital’s continued adherence to rigorous national benchmarks of nursing practice.

“It is a privilege to know that our team of dedicated nurses continues to be recognized as among the best in the country for providing the highest quality patient care to the communities we serve,” said Denise Sullivan, vice president of nursing services at Newport Hospital.

To achieve the recognition, hospitals undergo an extensive and lengthy evaluation every four years that features qualitative and quantitative documentation of the highest level of patient care and rigorous on-site review.

Research indicates that hospitals with magnet status are shown to have shorter recovery times and higher patient satisfaction than other hospitals.

Newport Hospital is a member of the Lifespan group of health care facilities.
