Nixon Peabody to merge with Ungaretti & Harris

BOSTON – International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP and Chicago’s Ungaretti & Harris LLP will merge Feb. 1.
The combined firm will retain the Nixon Peabody name and brand.
Andrew I. Glincher, who will continue as managing partner & CEO for Boston-based Nixon Peabody said in a statement, “We are privileged to team up with a prestigious law firm like Ungaretti & Harris with a stellar reputation serving public and private clients.”
“This combination is responsive to the needs of our clients with interests in Chicago and the Midwest as we grow and diversify our services there. At the same time, this merger offers Ungaretti & Harris clients more than 600 lawyers across Nixon Peabody’s international platform that includes offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and London,” he said.
Tom Fahey, managing partner of Ungaretti & Harris, said the firm is excited to join Nixon Peabody’s national and international team. He will become a member of Nixon Peabody’s management committee.
Nixon Peabody opened a Chicago office in 2007. Established in the mid-1970s, Ungaretti & Harris “complements Nixon Peabody’s strengths in corporate, health care, real estate, litigation, public finance, intellectual property and government relations services,” according to a news release. The firm primarily serves clients in the greater Chicago area.
When considered along with Nixon Peabody’s capabilities in Chicago, the merger with Ungaretti & Harris is attractive to companies seeking lawyers immersed in the health care, real estate, private equity, public finance, energy, life sciences and financial services industries.
