Nominations sought for ?climate-change board

PROVIDENCE – Gov. Gina M. Raimondo and R.I. Department of Environmental Management Director Janet Coit announced last week they are seeking nominations for the newly created R.I. Executive Climate Change Science and Technical Advisory Board.

Raimondo said in a statement the advisory board will help the state develop “practical solutions” to addressing the impacts climate change will have on Rhode Island. She added the policies that come out of the board will focus on both urban and rural communities.

This nine-member advisory board was created as part of the Resilient Rhode Island Act to provide guidance to the Executive Climate Change Coordinating Council on issues that include aligning academic research around climate issues, communicating scientific and technical information to the public, and taking inventory on public and private sector work to achieve greater coordination and efficiency.

The Senate will confirm all of the governor’s appointments to the advisory board.
