Nonprofit wins Housing for Everyone grant

A Woonsocket nonprofit was a winner of this year’s Housing for Everyone grant competition put on by the TD Charitable Foundation.
The foundation, a charitable arm of TD Bank, earlier this month announced winners of $2.5 million in grants, which included the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corp., of Woonsocket. The grants aim to bolster affordable housing efforts in states from Maine to Florida, according to a Dec. 3 press release.
“Each year it is our pleasure to support housing agencies that are making a difference in the community,” said Beth Warn, president of the charity, in a statement. “Affordable housing affects thousands and we are proud to partner with agencies to address this critical need.”
Organizations participating in the grant competition had to be nonprofits that “develop or maintain affordable housing, or provide housing-related programs and services to very low-, low- and moderate-income individuals and families,” according to the release.
Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corp. is the only winner from Rhode Island, according to the release, but other nonprofits were located in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont and Washington, D.C.
