Nordstrom Rack work begins in Warwick

WARWICK – Construction began last week on a new 37,360-square-foot Nordstrom Rack discount department store in a new wing of the expanding Warwick Mall.
The store is slated to open in the fall of 2012 and offer a similar mix of clothes, shoes and accessories as Nordstrom’s regular stores at deeply reduced prices.
The new store will become the first Nordstrom Rack in Rhode Island.
The company operates a regular Nordstrom department store at the Providence Place Mall in Providence.
When it opens, Nordstrom Rack will join other new additions to the Warwick Mall, including a Jordan’s Furniture store that opened last month. The new store will join 80 other retail locations in the mall including anchor tenants Macy’s, JC Penney and Target, plus 12 restaurants and a 12-screen multiplex movie theater.
“The addition of Nordstrom Rack continues our plan to offer customers a first-class shopping and entertainment destination and provides a great opportunity for shoppers to experience the many great retailers that Warwick Mall has to offer,” said Warwick Mall Co-Managing Partner Aram Garabedian in a news release after the Dec. 28 groundbreaking.
