Nortek Security & Control unveils newest smart home technology product

PROVIDENCE – Nortek Security & Control LLC, a Nortek company that specializes in security and home control, announced its latest product as part of its “smart” home technology – the 2GIG GC3 home security and automation panel.
In a news release, the company said that more than 2.6 million panels have been installed in the U.S. to date. The new 2GIG GC3 was described by Nortek as “a highly intuitive” all-in-one security and home control touchscreen panel that provides home security, manages up to 232 smart home devices, features “robust” user customization options, affords mobile security and safety alerts, and brings “unprecedented update capabilities.”

The company said the new panel is the thinnest on the market today at 7 inches, and is able to control everything from thermostats, light bulbs and light switches to door locks. It can be controlled by the user from anywhere using a smart device or browser, Nortek said.
Combining monitored security and smart home devices allows homeowners the ability to manage and react to any alerts, as well as make real-time adjustments to temperature, door locks and lighting, Nortek said.
“Consumers looking at residential home security are increasingly investing in smart home technology to keep their homes safe and connected,” Rob Halligan, group vice president of marketing, Nortek Security & Control, said in a statement. “2GIG has been at the forefront of the security landscape and continues to develop the most comprehensive home security offerings with complete state-of-the-art smart home capabilities baked in.”
