PROVIDENCE – Nortek Inc., manufacturer of residential and commercial building products, named Michael J. Clarke its new president and CEO on Tuesday.
Clarke replaces longtime CEO Richard Bready, who retired in June. Interim CEO J. David Smith will return to his role as a member of the board of directors.
Clarke will take on his new role as of Dec. 30 and will also become a member of the Nortek board of directors.
“We were attracted to Michael because he has demonstrated a long track record of expanding several manufacturing divisions through multiple market cycles. The board also felt that his experience in a broad array of sectors relevant to our business, as well as his proven ability to motivate, retain and develop talent, would be important to Nortek and its stakeholders,” said Smith in a news release.
Clarke most recently served as group president of integrated network solutions at Singapore-based Flextronics International Ltd. Previously, he held senior executive positions at companies such as Sanmina-SCI Corp., Devtek Corp. and Hawker Siddeley.
He has a degree in mechanical engineering from Bradford Polytechnic in England.
