The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and several other local chambers and organizations partnered to organize a job fair for veterans and their spouses. The job fair, which was recently held at the Warwick Armory, drew more than 250 job seekers to meet with 53 companies with open positions.
Additional sponsoring organizations included the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, the R.I. Department of Labor and Training and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
In attendance at the job fair to greet the veterans and show support were Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse; U.S. Reps. James R. Langevin and David N. Cicilline; James Decheme, regional manager for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Maj. Gen. Kevin McBride, Rhode Island adjutant general and commanding general of the Rhode Island National Guard; Charles Fogarty, director of the R.I. Department of Labor and Training; and John C. Gregory, president and CEO of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce. •
