WARWICK – A spokesman for European discount carrier Norwegian Air said it will offer transatlantic flights from T.F. Green Airport starting this summer, but did not reveal the destinations.

Norwegian spokesman Réal Hamilton-Romeo said Wednesday that the carrier plans to launch with its $69 introductory fare, and plans to keep the fare “relatively low” after the introductory period ends.

“Although there is a great deal of speculation, I am not yet able to confirm which European destinations will be served from T.F. Green Airport,” Hamilton-Romeo wrote in an email.

In a December interview with Providence Business News, R.I. Airport Corp. President and CEO Iftikhar Ahmad said talks were underway with Norwegian to offer flights to Ireland from T.F. Green Airport. At that time, another Norwegian spokesman, Anders Lindstrom, said they were looking at flights to Cork in Ireland, and potentially Shannon and Dublin.
